Prior to Board Business, an area resident contacted the Director of Sarasota County Capital Projects to gather information, which he shared via an update on the status of the Bahia Vista Parallel Force Main Project.
Currently the Contractor (American Pipeline Construction), is in default. The project was to take 15 months, with a start date of January 2021. The contract price was $ 5.9 million.
Problem: The Contractor did not provide adequate supervision, so the contract was terminated. The county is currently undertaking an emergency procurement of a substitute contractor. It should take 4 weeks. Work is expected to resume after tourist season.
